Outcasts...
Chapters 8 and 9 of "Into the Wild" the main focus is about outcasts. I believe Krakauer meant to tell the story from this focus because McCandless can be considered some what of an outcast. The definition of an outcast is someone that is rejected or removed from society. I don't believe in anyway Chris was rejected by the ones that he loved, but he could of outcast himself and attempted to remove himself from the life that he was living. From his families reaction to his death it doesn't seem like in anyway he was unwanted. As far as the question "what is in a name?" I say that it depends on the person. People do change their names, but for someone to change their whole name completely it takes something other then picking a name that suits you. It takes a mental state to say that they are not in their ideal state of reality to believe that they are who they say they are.
